Think NYC’s crowded now? In 1910, a four-story building on the Lower East Side housed  an average of 66 people with two apartments per floor. Today about 16 people live there with four studios per floor. You do the math!

Winter temperatures weren’t the only thing up this season. So were the rents — they’re nearly 7% higher than last winter.
